What does the Hilton Elementary PTO do?
The Hilton Elementary PTO is a 501(c)(3) organization that strives to enhance the educational environment at Hilton Elementary School through parent volunteerism, involvement, and financial resources. We promote communication and build stronger connections between the school administration, staff, parents, and students. Specifically we provide classroom enrichment programs in science and the arts, special events for students and families, teacher and staff appreciation, classroom support, opportunities for parents to be active in the school, and we serve as a liaison between administration and parents.
Who can join the PTO?
Every Hilton Elementary parent and teacher is automatically a member of the PTO. You do not have to formally join the organization or pay any dues. Everyone is welcome to attend meetings, make suggestions, volunteer for events, and participate in whatever way works for you and your family.

How many parent volunteers does it take to run these events?
Many! Over 200 parents volunteer each year. Each event requires a small committee group to plan and coordinate the event and then many parent volunteers are needed to help at the event. You can get involved in many ways by simply volunteering to help on the day of the event, planning the event, or helping to set up/take down the event. There are daytime and evening events so as to provide lots of opportunities for parents to get involved. Even if you can't volunteer your time, you can still support the school by donating refreshments or by participating in our fundraising program.
Why is volunteering important?
Volunteering at school events is a great way to be involved in your child's school! Your child spends many hours at school and this is your chance to see a bit of that part of their world. Kids love seeing their parents at school. The PTO works very hard to make sure that if you volunteer at an event you will be assigned to an area that your child(ren) will visit. Volunteering is also a great way to meet other Hilton parents and to feel more connected to our school.

Where does the PTO's money come from?
All of the PTO's money comes from Hilton families. Our primary fundraiser is the Hound Dog Run every year in the fall. We also earn money from ongoing fundraising programs like Box Tops and Kroger rewards. Our goal each year is to raise $50,000 to support all of the programs, events and enrichment activities the PTO sponsors. *We do not hold fundraisers that require our children to sell things to family, friends or neighbors.
How do I get involved?
The PTO holds meetings every month throughout the school year and everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend. These meetings are an opportunity for us to provide upcoming event updates. We discuss requests from teachers to purchase materials or support classroom projects with PTO funds. We discuss ideas for new programs or improvements to past programs. We also hear updates from the school principal.
Where else can I go to find out what's happening?
As you can see there are lots and lots of ways to be active at our school. The PTO is here to help coordinate but it is only through the efforts of the entire community that we can make our children's years at Hilton the best they can be.
